Don’t read this if you don’t know anything about this movie. It’s best watched in ignorance.
Sometimes a film that is a great concept doesn’t really work in reality – Sliding Doors, 300, Sin City – visually arresting or philosophically clever but overall they don’t work. But I think Cloverfield does work – its a little [...]

So little time so much to say…
Had my first experience of being on a panel TV show yesterday. It was the kind of “right to reply” kind of programme that Channel 4 put on. It was hosted by my name sake Krishna Guru Murphy. It was weird being called into make up… but it was [...]

Here are my favourite DVDs of the year:
1. The Lives of Others -masterful, poetic, a German language film with a powerful plot line about love, despair, surveilance and omniscience. This was my favourite film of the year.
2. The Waitress – quirky, sweet but not saccharine take this film, add an evening off and a large [...]

I really do believe that Channel 4 has an important role to play, especially in the post digital context. The more I reflect on it, the more I am convinced that if you combine the twin aspects of being both prophetic and trustworthy you will remain a force to be reckoned with in the culture. In an [...]

Ok so a combined effect of a rainy August, 25p DVDs at Blockbuster have meant our family has watched a lot of children’s movies this Summer. Here’s some of our views on children’s DVDs. See also my 2008 recommendations. You can see some of the recommendations on my amazon store too:

Here is a great song that has cropped up a few times on the Heroes soundtrack. It’s by
“Rogue Wave” and called “Eyes.”

Just found this list of who’s who on Heroes. Good news is the show does get a second season in the USA.
So there’ plenty of chance for us to get to know these guys. Love the multicultural mix of this team.

BBC 2 has aired this US series over the last two nights.
What a great opening to a series! Loved the multi-thread drama angle. Loved the inclusio bookends that mean the show starts and ends with the same images. Loved the fact that they don’t do a “previously on Heroes” but just backtrack 10 seconds [...]
