This was the best day yet. We had a good chat as a team this morning. I must admit I was getting a bit discouraged as the feedback session felt pretty negative – I am always looking for ways to improve things – but sometimes we only look for the things that are going wrong and that can end up in a bit of a negative spiral. I will try and think of a way to make that work better tomorrow.
It’s great having Bjorn from Norway here – he brings a real freshness to the devotionals and he’s really enjoying being part of the team.

great turn out at the science and christianity lunch bar
Today being wednesday – i was nervous that numbers would be down as it’s only a half day because of the intervarsity sports schedules. I shouldn’t have worried – the CU were praying hard and the God was gracious sending a pack out crowd to the Lunch bar on : “Has Science killed God” – the first one was so full that people were sitting on the floor – over a hundred and the second had atleast 70 so our best crowd so far. The CU were really encouraged and our question panel did really well – especially Charisa who is on an NHS management programme from Southampton – I was encouraging her to get connected with Damaris to explore her apologetics gifting. The Atheists were out in force again – I really like these guys – they are very polite and good natured and come to absolutely everything. Straight after the session from 1-2pm they stayed chatting to the team until 5.30pm then came over to the Bond event and then onto the Lawyers christian fellowship event! Do pray for a spritiual breakthrough not just the philosophical sparring and fun banter we are all having. There were a lot of good conversations taking place – so the team are really coming through well.

science and christianity is a really hot topic at warwick uni
The number at the evening event have been steadily buidling – after a disappointing 75 on Monday, 130 last night and tonight over 170. The CU have been doing a great job with publicity so people are just walking in “off the street” as it were as well as people coming back from previous evenings and lunch bars. I gave people an opportunity to become christians tonight – lets see what happens as the week goes on. Ruth Ranjan a warwick grad from Myton church gave her testimony tonight – we did it as an interview and she did an excellent job. Then Izzy from the CU organised a special Lawyers Christian Fellowship event with a really good Barrister from London coming up – with the title “a FREE society.” Then a late night chat with some of the team in student bar – discussing the pros (and cons) of Mark Driscoll’s machismo and , orthodoxy and orthopraxy and how to hear God’s call – bonding over beer and cheese and onion crisps ;o)

jesus and james bond and some lasagne brought out a good crowd tonight
We are in the final half of the week now – just 6 more talks to give – Jesus and other religions and Jesus and Love Actually tomorrow.
Keep praying – God is doing some exciting work here this week – it’s a privilege to be part of it.
PS Soundtrack for the week:
A day like today – Elbow
Take back the City – Snow Patrol
City of Blinding Lights (live) – U2
Hoppipolia – Sigur Ros
